What is the iPad? It's the wife's device
You heard it here first: the iPad is the wife's device. Or, being politically correct, the spouse's device. And not only because in my social network it's the husband's spouses who more clearly lust for the iPad.
It's the second laptop in a family they seldom need a "real laptop" at all. Road warriors need pro laptops, the rest of human beings check their email, they (still) read, and watch movies. Write small snippets.And iPads will live in the family, like the second car. Smartphones and the iPhone are individual devices: one for each make sense; it's not like that for laptops or iPads, we will not have one for each member of the family. iPad, for the consumer-self we all had in us. In a few years, "real laptops" will be for active activists and professional pros. iPad is the killer app for the couch potatoing.
